How To Dress For Your Body Type | MEASUREMENTS

DRESS FOR YOUR BODY TYPE - MEASUREMENTS

How to dress for your body type using measurements *how to*. This is the best styling tip every woman needs to know. I learnt this styling tip when I was studying many years ago and knowing this simple tool will give you more clarity about your body type than any other. Learn how to measure if you are short waisted, long waisted, short legged or long legged.

Take a tape measure and we’re going to measure the length of our body and end up with eight different measurements.

The ideal body type Will have eight equal measurements…. And if all your measurements are equal it means that your body is in perfect proportion, and as a mathematical equation, it will look pleasing to the eye. Most people however will have different body measurements on different parts of the body, and this is going to tell us if we’re long waisted short wasted, short legged or long legged…. And once we know this we dress to lengthen or shorten those areas.

If you do this a couple of times you really get a better understanding of your body and I’m hoping that you’ll be able to identify why certain garments don’t sit right on you. It’s okay to label ourselves as a hourglass a pear an inverted triangle or a rectangle but knowing that is only a small part of the puzzle. But knowing how to measure your body in the right proportions gives you a whole lot more information.

Here are my top tips…

  • Take tape measurement and divide the body long ways into eight separate sections.
  • First measurement is from the top of the head to the base of the chin.
  • Second measurement is from the base of the chin to the peak of the bust.
  • Third measurement is from the peak of the bust to the natural waist.
  • Fourth measurement is from the natural waist to the crease in your leg.
  • Fifth measurement is from the crease of your leg to the mid thight.
  • Sixth measurement is from the mid thigh to the mid knee.
  • Seventh measurement is from the mid knee to the mid seam.
  • Eight measurement is from the mid seam to the ankle.
